The anchovy is best known in southern Europe. If the temperature of the sea water rises, anchovies can occur in northern parts of Europe. Anchovies are also fished in the Netherlands. This is only periodic and is seasonal. This specimen is found in the waters of southern Spain, the Gulf of Cadiz. Anchovies can grow 20 cm and swim to a depth of 400 m. Anchovy has a small narrow cup with a distinctive short mandible. The top of the fish has a dark blue / black color running toward a silver belly side.
