Plaice is a well-known flatfish in our European waters. The characteristic of a flatfish is that the eyes are on one side at the top of the head. Plaice has a brown/green top with orange dots. The belly side is white in color. Plaice is found in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean from Greenland to Norway. The plaice is also found in the North Sea and in the Mediterranean. Plaice feeds itself with small bottom fish, but also shellfish are on the menu. Plaice swim to a depth of 250m, and can be 50 years old.
