    Skrei is a name for cod, or rather a Norwegian cod. Skrei is a winter cod. Skrei comes from the word Skreid, which means in Norwegian bum. Skrei comes from Lofoten. This is an island group off the coast of Northern Norway. The Lofoten is a very nutrient-rich area, with a typically higher seawater temperature than elsewhere. The skrei feeds on shrimps, squid and mackerel, which is abundant in the pure water around the Lofoten. At the latest, little to no difference can be seen between the skrei and the “ ordinary “ cod, which is also not possible because both are of the same type. There is a genetic defect. To avoid confusion, the skrei is provided with a special label that is attached to the head or back of the fish. The Norwegians export the skrei to the better fish specialist, and also keep an old tradition in honor, they also process the skrei into stockfish and clipfish. This skrei is also MSC certified.
